How is a Credit Union governed?

A credit union is governed by a member elected Board of Directors. The Board hires the CEO, and is involved in setting the direction for the credit union to follow. Every member is an owner and therefore every member gets a say when it comes to electing the board of directors and deciding what's best for the future. It also means that members are the ones who share in the profits.
