What is a Balance Transfer and how does it work?

A balance transfer allows you to move balances from one credit card to a lower-rate credit card to simplify your payments and save money on interest. You can transfer your high-rate credit card balances to your Golden 1 credit card by using Online or Mobile Banking.
Online Banking
- Sign into Online Banking.
- Select Manage Cards from the side menu navigation.
- Select your credit card from the Switch or Add Card dropdown.
- Select Balance Transfer.
- Enter in necessary Payee information and click Submit.
- After submitting the request, users will be directed to a confirmation page.
Note: Payments will be issued to the payees within 48 hours. It may take up to 30 days for the balance transfer to clear.
Mobile Banking
- Log into Mobile Banking.
- Select I want to from the bottom navigation, then tap Manage my cards.
- Swipe through the card carousel to select your credit card.
- Select Balance Transfer.
- Enter in necessary Payee information and click Submit.
- After submitting the request, users will be directed to a confirmation page.
Note: Payments will be issued to the payees within 48 hours. It may take up to 30 days for the balance transfer to clear.
